Simon specialises in resolving commercial disputes. He has over twenty years’ experience in advising clients across a wide range of industries. He is well versed in a variety of dispute resolution techniques, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and other common forms of alternative dispute resolution. Simon’s focus is always on securing the best possible outcome for his clients, as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. He is committed to avoiding formal proceedings where possible, but if litigation is necessary, he fights his clients’ corner tenaciously. Simon brings to his practice useful prior judicial experience, having sat as a Deputy District Judge in London from 2010 to 2013.

  • Acting for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in High Court litigation with a biotechnology company over the conduct of a major clinical trial
  • Acting for biotechnology companies in a range of disputes, including High Court proceedings arising out of the theft and publication of confidential research material
  • Representing DuPont in the Court of Appeal in a dispute relating to flat screen display technology
  • Acting for British Nuclear Fuels Limited in long-running, highly technical litigation with German customers over technology for the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel
  • Advising on disputes relating to major construction projects, including a liquid gas terminal in Europe, a landmark art gallery in the UK and chemical plants in Iran
  • Representing a Middle Eastern state in a $120m fraud claim
  • Advising hedge funds, investment banks and brokers on a variety of complex disputes
  • Bringing and defending professional negligence claims against accountants, lawyers, architects, surveyors, brokers, in disputes valued at up to £1bn
  • Regular instructions on disputes arising out of the sale and purchase of businesses
  • Regular instructions arising out of employment issues, including enforcement of restrictive covenants and misuse of confidential information
  • Acting on the Harold Shipman Inquiry
  • Acting for inmates on death row in the Caribbean
